afi film festival

Objective: As part of the AFI Film Festival event,
I was challenged to commemorate a director
and his various works.

Concept: Through research and watching movies
I found that Woody Allen’s career has spanned over a fifty year period as an actor, director, screen writer, comedian, musician, and playwright, specializing in slapstick comedies. Throughout all of his films, his quirky intelligence shines through whether it simply be cinematics or cameos. This poster series commemorates his career.

From a young love struck fool to a man going through a midlife crisis and then a skeptical magician, there is a progression of age. Not only are they reminiscent of Allen’s career, but also a few of the characters in which he played. Although the characters are at different stages in life, they remain recognizable with Allen’s iconic black glasses. In the simple shapes of his attire are pieces that are indicative his movies: lobster claws (Annie Hall, 1977), window frames (Manhattan, 1979), and four playing card suits (Scoop, 2006).
